Thomas the Train and Sir Topham Hatt will be returning to the Medina Railroad Museum the weekends of May 20th-21st and 27th-28th for the Friendship Tour.
Starting June 3rd and running through October, celebrate our bounty every Saturday morning at the Canal Village Farmers Market in Medina. Hosted by the Orleans Renaissance Group, the market features epicurean delights from locally grown produce, craft beverages, locally raised meats and a wide selection of delicacies. Also on June 3rd, Holley will celebrate the Erie Canal’s bicentennial with a festival, arts & crafts and live entertainment. On June 9-10th, Albion will celebrate the 31st Annual Strawberry Festival featuring an arts & crafts show on the Courthouse lawn, live entertainment throughout historic downtown Albion as well as the parade Saturday morning and Chalk the Walk art contest. The celebration continues every Thursday evening as Albion hosts their annual summer concert series with the Erie Canal as the backdrop (June 15-August 3).
Lyndonville kicks off the July celebrations at the 42nd Annual Independence Day Festival featuring a parade, arts & crafts, chicken barbecue, children’s activities, duck race and highlighted with a spectacular fireworks display.
Cruise in, by boat, bike or traditional methods, to Point Breeze, just off the Seaway Trail Tuesday Nights for OONA’s 8th Annual Summer Concert Series at the Orleans County Marine Park featuring live music and food & beverage vendors (July 11-August 15).
Orleans County will celebrate the Erie Canal’s bicentennial throughout the year – including when hundreds of cyclists participate in the annual Cycle the Erie Canal adventure July 9th. The Traveling Towpath Troubadours will help usher in cyclists with “on-the-water” performances in Medina, Albion and Holley July 9th and 10th.
More summer concert series are scheduled in Holley on Friday nights, once again celebrating the Erie Canal Bicentennial with the canal being the backdrop of each performance. (July 7 – August 25).
The 4-H Fairgrounds have a full schedule of horse shows and dog shows this summer as well as the 71st annual 4-H Fair to be held July 24-29th. www.cceorleans.org.
Celebrate our Trails by raising a glass of award winning wines where the Niagara Wine Trail connects to the Finger Lakes Wine Trail during any one of their themed events. Treat yourself to a drive in the country and discover the Barn Quilt Trail and the Peace Garden Trail. Cycle or cruise Historic Erie Canal Trail, or take a vintage train ride from the Medina Railroad Museum and marvel at their impressive HO models in the original train depot.
