Brilliantly colored autumn leaves will soon disappear from the Niagara USA landscape and the region will welcome lower temperatures and a snowy backdrop. Both indoors and outdoors, Niagara is always a wonder.


For total excitement, take a trip on Niagara Jet Adventures - even into the winter months. This recent attraction to the Niagara scene allows riders the comfort of an enclosed jet boat that travels through the lower rapids in the Niagara River Gorge. Trips will run until the ice flows (quite possibly into December).


Niagara USA offers world class fishing opportunities and boasts a long list of freshwater fish available year-round.  A weekly fishing report is currently recorded at (877) FALLS-US.


FREE museums are plentiful in the Niagara Region. Stop by the New State Power Authority’s Niagara Power Vista in Lewiston. Their admission-free visitor center features state-of-the-art interactive exhibits along with spectacular views of the Niagara River Gorge. They will be undergoing a huge expansion and face lift (Disney-style) but will be open to the public during renovations. Nearby on the Niagara University Campus, the Castellani Art Museum is another free museum open to the public offering permanent and changing exhibits from photography & paintings to sculpture. A hidden gem is the Joseph Jacobs Museum at Smokin Joes on the Tuscarora Territory in Sanborn. View some of the most breathtaking sculptures, carvings and artwork depicting Native American culture.


Year ‘round attractions and offerings are continually growing in the area. The Niagara Falls Culinary Institute not only has degree programs in the food service industry, but the public is welcome to take workshops from cooking and baking to wine tasting. The Aquarium of Niagara if going through an expansion of their Humboldt penguin enclosure, adding to their sea life exhibits and ever-popular events. A new Rainforest Café opened this past summer along with The Great American Arcade adding to the entertainment mix. Speaking of entertainment, the Seneca Niagara Casino not only has all of the best slots and table games, but also a huge winter line-up of top name performers including Tracy Morgan, Bobby Rydell and Kim Mitchell.

If you want to take in the cultural side of the region, a trip to Old Fort Niagara is a must for any history buff. 18th century buildings, living history programs, musket demonstrations and original artifacts round out your visit. The Niagara Arts & Cultural Center is the largest multi-arts center in New York State. The complex has galleries, theaters and studios along with some interesting events including the late winter “Art of Beer”. In Lockport, The 25-acre Kenan Center campus includes the historic Kenan Center House, the Taylor Theatre and the Kenan Arena which houses a variety of special events, throughout the year.

To fully experience the beauty of winter, visit Niagara Falls State Park when it is covered in a stunning sheet of ice and snow. When the sun shines, the trees sparkle and crackle in the breeze creating a winter wonderland that overwhelms the senses. Be sure to take a walk onto the Observation Tower, which offers dramatic views of all three Falls and the icy river below!
