About the Editor –
Pamela Forge knew that she would be involved in tourism at a young age. Pamela decided to make her love of travel her career path in high school. She attended the Institute of Transportation, Travel & Tourism at Niagara University where she received her bachelor’s degree.
After working in corporate travel for ten years in both Los Angeles and Sacramento, California, Pamela moved back to western New York. While doing business with various county tourism bureaus, it was obvious that each county had wonderful travel guides but no one was bringing the entire western New York area together in one publication. That is how Explore New York: The Greater Western New York Traveler’s Companion was conceived. In 1996, Pamela incorporated and started Forge Ahead Promotions, Inc.
In the first couple of years of the print publication, the advent of the internet was gaining momentum and Pamela was one of the first local publications to offer a website along with the print version of the magazine, Explore New York.
In 2014, Pamela made an addition to her corporation, Forge Ahead Promotions, Inc. – a brochure distribution service. She has over 50 brochure racks throughout Chautauqua County and the Seneca Nation Cattaraugus Territory. In one year, her brochure service has been a great success. She is actually her own best customer since her publication needed to be visible throughout the county.
Pamela became ordained and is a wedding officiant. She is also a sanctioned BBQ judge for the Kansas City BBQ Society, loves the beach and her home in Sunset Bay. Pamela still continues to travel throughout western New York finding new and unique businesses to promote and also the world beyond.
